Emil Brattested & Morten Røsbak – «Assembly»

New album out now

Emil Brattested and Morten Røsbak invite you on a musical journey where form, instruments, and moods intertwine.

“Assembly” is a project where the musicians, Emil Brattested and Morten Røsbak, decimate the duo format in an attempt at investigating certain dark musical alleys and dead ends – with flashlight and magnifier.

The two musicians share a fascination with peculiar musical cases, and felt a need to explore these through writing a series of small compositions.

In essence:

“Assembly” reimagines the duo format as its own meta-format.

A playground for melodies, riffs, and arrangements across their individual axes.

It’s a dive into fresh musical angles, unexpected turns, and a refined originality that surprises at every corner.

A construction set where curiosity drives bold artistry, and inventive solutions meets improvisation and fearless exploration.

With a history of solo projects and the quartet Hippo Act in their arsenal, Røsbak and Brattested approach their duets like sculptors with sledgehammer and chisel.

They break things apart, only to rebuild them anew—layered, intricate, and more compelling than ever.

Recorded at Tou Lyd in Stavanger and Borger Withs Gate 4 in Oslo. Mixed by Stian Hansen. Mastered by Zino Mikorey. Featuring Tobias Ørnes Andersen on ‘Mark Zero.’
